1. I was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland
I left this city only at 30 years old… only to move to move 20 km away, in the lovely city of Nyon! Since Geneva is the european seat of several international organisations as well as non-governmental organizations, you can meet people from all over the world. And it’s one of the thing I like the most about Geneva! When I introduce myself and say that I’m Swiss, the people I talk to are often surprised: it’s not common to meet someone actually from Switzerland in Geneva. I believe that this diversity is what makes it special and beautiful.
2. I don’t own a car
Reducing my carbon footprint is something very important for me. I am sure that all of us can contribute to help save the environment, and I do everything that I can to preserve the environment:
- I favor sustainable transport
- I reduce my plastic waste
- I save electricity at home and at the office
- I recycle at home and at the office
3. I believe my introversion is a super power
I prefer listening to people than talking… which is very helpful when designing website: I spend a lot of time listening to my clients and understanding their needs. So, introversion definitely makes me better at my job!
4. I have a PhD in psychology
I wanted to be sure that my research was relevant to the industry, so I worked as a consultant at the same time and asked my boss to be co-director of my thesis. There are many fields in psychology and I choose human-computer interaction. My studies were about the use of non-moderated online user testing tools.
One thing I enjoyed a lot during my PhD was being a teaching assistant. I enjoyed accompanying students during their studies and I always had a nice contact with them.
5. I love escape rooms!
You are locked in a room and have 60 minutes to escape it by solving puzzles and riddles using the clues scattered all over the room. It’s so much fun! Every room has a theme and a backstory: it’s amazing to immerse yourself in those adventures! I discovered this kind of games in 2016 and my husband and I try to do at least one in every city we travel to.
6. I am a true fan of Jack White
I grew up listening to a lot of rock music. I have been listening to Jack White’s music a while now (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather). I believe he is a music genious. I will see him for the first time during a concert in Amsterdam next summer – I’m so happy!!!
My dream is to one day be able to meet him to work on one his websites.
7. 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation are my favorite TV shows
I do watch current shows as well, with a preference for comedies. And in this genre, I believe 30 Rock and Parks and Rec are one of the best ever made. Amy Poehler (who plays the main character Leslie Knope in Parks and Rec) and Tina Fey (who created and played the main character Liz Lemon) are my heroes! They are talented and committed women.
And that is my subtle way of letting you know that I am a feminist.
8. Becoming an entrepreneur helped me go beyond my anxiety
Which is funny, because it is a stressful endeavour! Doing everything by myself and for myself has forced me to go beyond some of my fears, and I am able to learn at each step of the process. It’s a great experience, I’m loving every day of it!
9. I am a bahá’í
And that’s why I made a list of nine itmes instead of ten 😉 I became a bahá’í when I was 26. I litteraly fell in love with Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings: I believe that there is one God, that mankind is one, and service to the community totally made sense to me.
